Chateau Beychevelle put its 2017 vintage on sale at 52.80 euros ($62.35) a bottle ex-negociant in Bordeaux, 6.7 percent below the 56.60 euros it charged for its 2016 wine, according to London-based online wine market Liv-ex. Beychevelle is a Saint Julien estate with 79 hectares (195 acres) under vines, producing between 240,000 and 260,000 bottles a year from its deep Garonne gravel soils, according to data from the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux regional guide. The estate is planted with 48 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 43 percent Merlot, 6 percent Cabernet Franc and 3 percent Petit Verdot, and the wines are aged for between 16 and 18 months in oak barrels, half of which are new. Other wine estates pricing their 2017 vintages included Chateau Talbot, down 11 percent on last year to 37.20 euros a bottle, and Chateau Rieussec Sauternes, which went on sale at 42 euros a bottle, in line with the previous two years, according to Liv-ex.
